I am new to this site but not new to water fasting; however, the last time a fasted for 15 days, the fast went with such bad headache that I needed to stop. I was in agony; however, felt great once started to eat and had painkiller for headache (tylenol).
To be short, I have got thyroid problem and gained a lot of weight over the past 5 years. Feel very depressed because of this gain and, honestly, lost any hope already. My thyroid is not corrected still because I get reactions to various med brands and just stop taking it-on and off cycle.
Deep inside, I always felt that water fast is a true and only solution for me. Hypothyroid folks know that exercise is not a solution-2 hours a day puts more fat on since it decreases metabolism even more than energy spent on this running/walking; only 4 or more hours a day of mid level physical activity have a marginal effect. I do not have that much time.
So, I am going to have a sincere effort and started fast today. To be accountable, from tomorrow and on I will post measurements and weight. And I hope to find a support here since I feel that headache issue would torture me this time again. And I would welcome any comment or advice. And thank you for the possibility to share on this forum.

Answer by Tom,
Why not try juice fasting. Juice fasting can trigger headaches for a few days but not for weeks. What do you have to lose by trying. Juice for about 2 weeks then go to water. Fill in a real progress report.
Never juice fast.
Your headaches could have several causes so consider these:
You had caffeine and other addictions that might have triggered the headaches, or
Your electrolytes got off during the fast and besides risking your life, you got headaches from the electrolyte abnormality, or
You had psychological overload from the increased prana of fasting.
Of course, I don’t know what exactly happened to you, but the electrolyte imbalance would be the most serious.
The Sedona sweat lodge people fasted, then steamed, got headaches, nauses, fainted and died. You’ve got to keep your electrolyte and fluid balance correct during fasting.
