  • Questions:
I hear that the first three days of a water fast are usually the hardest. I've been fine the past couple of days, but now I am starting to feel weak. I'm currently only drinking water with the occasional cup of unsweetened herbal tea (tangerine flavor). Contrary to some people's beliefs, the tea doesn't make me feel hungry. It's just a variation on water. Am reluctant to, but due to weakness (and I do have a newborn, but not breastfeeding unfortunately) am contemplating whether I should get some juice (don't have a juicer so can't blend fresh stuff). If I do get some juice, should I look for apple or feijoa juice? I understand I should stay clear of citrus because of the acid content and how it can upset your stomach, correct? I have fresh fruit (pears and apples) at home, but understand it is better to drink juice when you're on a fast, rather than interrupt the fast by eating solids.

Well I lasted until about 4:45pm on my third day. I was feeling very weak in the legs and arms and since I have to carry my newborn, figured I should stop. I got some juice (since I don’t have a juicer) from the supermarket. The most expensive stuff I could find without preservatives etc. I will try to come off the fast sensibly. I’ve had a glass of feijoa and apple juice and I feel heaps better already.

Hi SN, I’d suggest a series of short juice fasts (3-5 days), with breaks for raw fruits and veggies in-between. Calcium is a nutrient that is very important after a pregnancy. Leafy greens, especially collards are a great natural source.

Red Delicious are the most vitamin loaded apples you can get. You can water fast after you get your body balance back. Right now you need all the nutrients, vitamins, and live enzymes you can get to rebuild your body! Some light exercise is also a good thing after a pregnancy! Good Luck, and any child questions are up my and my wifes alley, we have 9! Ron
