  • Darren 34 years old male, weighing 84 kg / 184.8 lbs, 67 in /170.18 cm tall, none. From Toronto, Canada CA

  • Doing 10 days of Water Fasting. Starting March 6, 2011

  • Reasons for Fasting:
    I am fasting for 3 main reasons: 1) I am overweight and unhappy with my body image as it exists today. To prepare for my fast I have been exercising (yoga and elliptical) steadily since December and working on rehashing my diet towards a much more whole food style of eating. 2) I am looking to detoxify my body from years of abuse. I am an ex-pop-addict (drinking at least 2 litres a day) ex-junk-food-addict (often consuming as much as 5000 calories a day) and ex-drug-abuser (using cocaine, heroin, amphetamines and other substances) 3) I am trying to reinvent myself right now and i believe the focus and discipline a fast requires will help me to achieve my goals in this area as well.

  • Past Fasting Experience:
    none

  • Present Diet:
    Currently my diet consists of avoiding the following: - White Rice - Potato - Pasta - Breads - Refined sugars and sweeteners - Chicken, Beef and Pork - Caffeine - Most processed foods

  • Supplements:
    Psyllium, flax oil, probiotics buffered vitimin C powder magnesium citrate strong multivitamin

  • Relevant Medical History:
    Just fat, nothing specific wrong. Family history of heart disease

  • Present Medication or Drug Usage:
    none

  • State of Mind:
    My mind is currently in a state of flux. I have had some devastating blows recently that have sent me into a mental tailspin that I am trying to recover from. I am calm and agitated all at the same time and trying to bring myself back into a state of normalcy.

  • Limitations:
    none that i can think of

    I am currently on day 2 of my water fast. I am feeling fine with no problems so far. The hunger pains are worse today and I am trying to keep on top of them by proactively getting water into me before they arrive (not sure if i am succeeding but i am trying..).

    My weight at start of the fast was: 184 lbs
    My weight this morning was: 181 lbs

    Total weight loss so far: 3 lbs

    I haven’t been under 180 lbs since high school so i am feeling pretty good about the next milestone.

    Hi Darren

    I wish you luck on your water fast. I’m sorry to hear about the blows that have happened for you. I had some horrible life altering things happen to me the last few years too, and I know how much mental and spiritual energy it takes to recover. Hopefully you will get clarity during this fast

    Congratulations on your decision to make a change for yourself. I think its wonderful. In reading your report if find you’ve done some research and have been preparing your body to detox. I’m inspired by your determination. Detoxing is difficult, so take it in strides, and be proud that you are doing it.
