Lily : 3 days of Juice/Water Fasting

  • Lily Casablanca, 61 years old Female, weighing 102 kg / 224.4 lbs, 66 in /167.64 cm tall, Christian. United States

  • Doing 3 days of Juice/Water Fasting. Starting October 10, 2010

  • Reasons for Fasting:
    Physical and Spiritual.

  • Past Fasting Experience:
Have fasted many times in the past for both physical and spiritual reasons. However, it has been several years since my last fast and I am way overdue because some medications require food or you get sick if you take the medicines without food. However, none are needed to sustain life.

  • Present Diet:
Sometimes good, sometimes bad, and sometimes disgusting.

  • Relevant Medical History:
Lymphedema, Venus Insufficiency, shot Tendons in left leg (from dragging paralyzed right leg around), and partial Paralysis on right side of body from a Cerebral Hemorrhage in 1984.

  • Present Medical Problems:
Overweight and Lymphedema. In addition to compression stockings and MLD Therapy, I wear a brace on the left leg and soon will wear one on the right leg. Their having problems deciding what to do with me as I need a brace for both legs and yet have to allow for the swelling of lymphedema.

  • State of Mind:
If I didn't have Jesus, I would have lost it a long time ago, but in reality there are days when my trust wavers as I struggle with the physical, mental, and spiritual problems of day to day challenges. However, when I am weak, He is strong.

  • Limitations:
Well, a brace(s), cane, walker, wheel chair, and a mobility scooter just about speak volumes about my walking ability and my left arm does all the work, while my right hand/arm just likes to sit there and do nothing most of the time.

    Hi Lily,
So glad you are with us. A 30 day juice fast using a juicer will transform your life. Your have lost your physical freedom that can be regained. I have seen people who were totally cripple and now are normal. Set your mind to the 30 days like an arrow.

  2. Lily Casablanca says:

Thank you, Tom, I am taking it a day at a time to determine how long. I have fasted in the past for forty days and experienced many wonderful things. Hoping this fast will be as fulfilling as it was several years ago.

Title: DAY THREE OF WATER ONLY
    Content:
On day three of water only, I have experienced almost nonstop headaches and various aches and pains. I swam an hour and had MLD Therapy for the Lymphedema. Then I swam later in the evening and the minute I hit the water (which was 89 degrees in an indoor pool) my body rebelled and it seemed like my whole body cramped up, including lungs. It was right then that I decided it was time for mineral/vitamin powder that I mix with water. I always keep some available at the pool to take at the first sign of cramping. It worked and I enjoyed another 90 minutes of leisurely swimming. To date, I have lost 5 pounds, but I can honestly say that after all that exercise, I AM HUNGRY.

Day 5 of Water Fasting was the beginning of Day One of Vegetable/Fruit Juice Fasting. My reasons for stopping were that I originally had no intention of water only fasting, but definitely felt led by the Lord to jump start this with water only. During Day 3 and Day 4 of the water fast, I had constant headaches and by Day 4, the pain in my lower back was constant and very uncomfortable with episodes of intermittent chills/sweating and shaking. Also, there are some medications that I really should be taking and should not go very long without and I cannot tolerate them on an empty stomach. So the long and the short of it is that I am now attempting a juice fast and the exciting part of it is that I have convinced by precious overweight husband to join me in the fun. It just doesn’t get any better.

So my question is: Fruits have a lot of sugar in them and they are healthy, etc. When they are juiced you are getting many time more fruit (sugar) than you would eat normally (granted healthy sugar), but still will affect blood sugar, etc. How do you compensate for and adjust to make sure that you are not consuming too much sugar?

PS: I lost 9 lbs. in four days… Yeah!

      Hi lily
Add more veg juice rather than fruit juice, you can balance the amount of sugars by looking at how much sugar there is in the fruits that you are juicing, but add more veg juice into your fast.
      Blessings Keith

      • Lily Casablanca says:

Keith, thank you for the information. I have noticed that when I have too much fruit juice at one time, that my body actually craves the vegetable juice. Maybe it’s talking to me and I should listen.

Well, first of all I finally found the answer to my question above. A miracle in my family happened as two of my kids (19 & 22) decided to join in the fasting fun with dad and me. It is Day 8 for me (lost 11 lbs. as of last week) and Day One for the rest of the family. I can’t wait to see how long everybody hangs in there as they all have physical issues. At present, I am dealing with periodic nausea, hot/cold extremes, sweating, and cramping. I did however, start taking chamomile and honey for the cramping in the legs and chest and last night I got my first good night sleep since I started fasting.

hi, the sugar from veg and fruit juice is a lot less concentrated than refined sugars found in many foods. Therefore the blood glucose level remains around the optimum level for the tillions of cells to use as fuel, about 100mg per decilitre of blood. This correct concentration will prevent hyperglycemic and the following hypoglycemic blood sugar state which hammers the endocine system ( insulin etc ) by the sugar regulating hormones being constantly and dramatically adjusted so the cells can get the “correct ocatne of fuel” to power them. By using a combination of about 75% carrot juice with 25% apple juice you should get the levels about right. Having the correct sugar concentration and being released gradually over a period of time will prevent cravings, mood swings, hot /cold flushes and keep your mind in a relaxed but alert state. The brain and central nervous system is only about 5% of the mass of the body but consumes about 50 to 60 % of it energy. So having the “right octane of fuel” over an extended period of time will work wonders. Hope this is of some help. best regards Noor

  8. Lily Casablanca says:

Noor, thank you so much for the explanation. I was a little concerned in the beginning about the fruit sugar, but now I also realize that I need to balance the sugars by adding more veggies to keep me from being out of control with sugar highs and lows while maintaining energy production.

  9. Lily Casablanca says:

Well, the rest of the family started fasting on Sunday and so far everybody has continued to Day 2. However, my 22 year old son came home from work and announced that he was hungry, but I ignored him as that is what he says every day when he comes home from work. My husband was complaining about needing coffee and why is that not considered one of the basic food groups in fasting? I told him to look it up on fasting.ws.

I went swimming today for an hour and then went for my MLD (Manual Lymph Drainage) therapy. This is a light massage over the lymphatic system by a trained lymphedema therapist. The purpose (in my own words) is to jump-start the lymphatic system that is not functioning properly. While laying on the table, I experienced one of those glorious, spasms/cramps in my leg. My therapist immediately worked out the cramp and said I probably needed more water. I then thought to myself, that actually I had been focusing so much on the fruit and vegetable juices that I probably had not taken in as much water as I should or needed. After all – all I consumed for four days was water, that should have lasted me for at least a month or two.

  10. Noor says:

hi, With regards to MLD , the lymph fluid surrounds all body cells and is the interface between the blood supply and the cell, therefore all nutrients and cell waste must pass through the lymph fluid.

The lymph system has no pump to power it when compared to the blood supply which is pumped by the heart. The lymph fluid is moved by exercise which squeeses the vast ammount of vessels to push the lymph fluid from the bottom of the body towards the heart region. Lymph vessels drain about 4 literes of fluid per day . Due to your restricted movement lymph drainage is not as good as it should be.
While fasting lots more cell waste is passed into the lymph fluid which then makes it more thick, this results in a further reduction of drainage. I would suggest that you have a 1 to 2 pint enema every 2 or 3 days while fasting as this will help eliminate a vast ammount of cell wastes and take the pressure of the lymph system and help prevent the build of thick dirty lymph fluid. Water temp for enema should be about body temp , 99 degrees fahrenheit. hope this is of some help to you , best regards Noor

Noor, thank you so much, I think I’m going to keep you around for a while as you are a wealth of information. In my case, Lymphedema is genetic and I have had it all my life in varying degrees, however, after the birth of my 5th and last child 19 years ago, it became my unknown enemy. Unknown because, at that time, I didn’t have a label for what I was experiencing. At this point, with all the physical challenges in my legs, the only thing left is swimming. Thank God that I love to swim and I do swim 60 – 90 minutes every day at a nearby medical facility. Again, thank you.

  12. Lily Casablanca says:

It has been 11 days total fasting for me and 4 days for my family and all is well. My husband is doing great, however, my 22 yr. old son is on the edge of “I can’t do this anymore” and my 19 yr. old daughter is waiting for him to give up so she can, too. We went to the pool last night and my son was asked what was happening in our life as we all were looking good, so that encouraged him to continue one more day. When other people notice that something is different, better, then you need to stop and ask yourself why and the answer is that healthy, spiritual glow that everyone should have all the time, if we lived in a perfect world.

I now have no idea how much weight I have lost as the scales refuse to budge. There is considerable swelling in my legs from weather changes and the full moon; these are some of the things that affect water and the lymphatic system. However, some of my clothes are getting much looser and that is definitely a good sign.

  13. Lily Casablanca says:

Today is Day 12, had a difficult evening last night as the room started spinning, I started sweating profusely, and fever came on me with severe stomach pains. However, it did not last long and now everything is fine except there appears to be some kidney stones lurking just waiting to attack. The Lord definitely put this fast on my heart for more than one reason.

      hi Lily
I’m new at this. I want to do the water w/lemon fasting. Don’t know when & how to begin. Any suggestions?

      • Lily Casablanca says:

Hi Mickie – I would suggest that you read as much information as you can before you start so you can have an idea what you personally want to do and what to expect. Water only is very difficult especially if you are active and can’t take time off to lounge around and not expend any energy. I personally have only done 3-7 day water only and then have continued with the fruit/veggie juice fast for up to 40 days was the longest that I did several years ago. Personally, I have found that if you can make it through the first three days, then the rest is easy; especially when you have a specific purpose in mind and keep focused on why you are fasting.

  14. Lily Casablanca says:

Last night, the 13th day of fasting, I broke my fast as hunger overtook me and the whole day was a struggle to not eat. When I get like that, then it is time to end the fast. My two adult children ended their fast and my sweet husband is continuing his fast for another week or two. What have I accomplished in 12 days of fasting? First, I broke my diet soda and diet chewing gum addiction, developed a desire for natural foods again, lost 11 pounds, lost 3 inches in the waist, lost 3 inches in the thighs, and lost 1 inch in the neck. Considering that originally all I was going to do was three days of juice fasting, I believe that this has been a very successful fast as I accomplished all the above mentioned and did four days of water fast and continued the remainder with an eight day vegetable/fruit juice fast. In addition, I met a lot of really nice people who are very sincere about helping others to achieve their goals and also those who are wanting to make physical, mental, and spiritual changes in their life. To all, I pray that you receive all that God has for each and every one of you.
