Doing 10 days of Juice/Water Fasting. Starting January 20, 2012
Reasons for Fasting:
I feel like my health is out of control. I am over weight, type 2 Diabetic. I have been gaining weigh pretty slowly although I tell myslef that I am going to LOSE weight. I have absolutely no get up and go. By the time I get the kids off to school, have my coffe and a bagel, I am ready for a nap and it's all I can do to stay awake. I can not find it in myself to get on the treadmill that sits right next to me as I write! I need to catch myself from this downhill fall.Past Fasting Experience:
Have never really done a "fast" As a Muslim I do a Ramadan fast and try to just eat very light in the evening. that did make me feel better but it wasn't enough to break me from my cravings. I think I need to do a complete fast.Present Diet:
My present diet basically includes a lot of things that I know I shouldn't eat. I do pretty well with my fruits and veggies, but my carbs are too plenty!! that's for sure.. i only eat white meat chicken and fish. But have been thinking about cutting them out as well. My goal though is to get off of processed foods!Supplements:
I take a calcium with vitamin d (600mg) a day. for osteoporosis.Relevant Medical History:
Diagnosed with early osteoporosis. just take the calcium, refuse to take the Fosomax! also have hypothyroid and diabetes (type 2)Present Medication or Drug Usage:
I take rx meds including , metformin for diabetes, synthroid, for hypothyroid, and provachol (sp?) for high cholesterol. (which I really don't have but since I'm a diabetic they thought I should be on to keep it low) If that makes any sense. My goal in this regard is to get the metformin and provachol.State of Mind:
Am ready for a change. I'm 47 and feel like 87. I know what I have to do to feel better just need to do it. Can't stand NOT having that power over myself. VERY tired and sluggish, no energy. Just want to nap all day it seems. My kids are just in middle school and high school and I would like to be around to see my grandkids, but feel like I'm slowly killing myself by doing nothing to help myself.Limitations:
My only limitations would be what ever would pertain to my medications. Not sure how juice fasting would effect my meds. some are to be taken with food. Would a juiec drink count?Questions:
My only question would be as stated above inregards to my medicatiions. My metformin is to be taken after a meal and the Calcium with a meal. Not sure how that would affect me.
