Fasting for Hiatal Hernia?

I am 23/female and have a Hiatal Hernia, as well as digestive problems. It’s to the point where the pressure in my diaphram is causing problems with breathing. I do not want surgery though. If I fast, and therefore, shrink the stomach, will this fix my hernia? And how long should the fast go for?  And a water or juice fast?  I’m worried about just water fasting as I might be protein deficient due to having this issue and indigestion/malabsortion for a while.

Thank you.

  1. Tom Coghill says:

    Hi Alicia
A hiatus hernia or hiatal hernia is the protrusion (or herniation) of the upper part of the stomach into the thorax through a tear or weakness in the diaphragm. A long juice fast will lessen the pain and strengthen the diaphragm. I doubt that it would heal it. The minor surgery the best choice with juice fasting to speed recovery.
