Hi Danie,
Welcome and wish you the best on your fast. It can be a bit rough for the first 3 days, if your diet had fried and junk food. Juices will keep your energy up if you keep it in a thermos when working or traveling.
Step daughter came in for the weekend for her birthday. Needless to say–food distractions. New start date 7-25-2010. Juicer is ready to go!
Day 1:
Started this morning with my vitamin powder mixed with unsweetened almond milk. I am not sure if this is okay to have while doing a juice fast–it is “clean.” Non-dairy
Later today I had a few slices of avacado.
I didn’t feel like I was really getting hungry until around 3pm. Instead of acting on my urges, I took a moment to think about what exactly I was feeling. After reading many, many books to prepare for this, I have come to the understanding that what I have been interpretating as hungry was false. This realization is a huge step for me. I ignored it and had some water.
Today’s juices include:
1. apples and carrots
2. apple, carrot, cererly, cucumber and kale (This juice looked terrible. It probably wasn’t the best mixture, but some of the ingrediants were chosen only because they needed to be eated/juiced. It actually wasn’t too terrible)
I also had a diet pepsi this morning–my caffeine. This I am weaning off within the next few days.
Thanks for reading.
Day 3:
I made a huge mistake yesterday. Morning and afternoon I did fine, but for dinner I ate mashed potatoes with my family and I drank beer. Dang it! I wasn’t even hungry and it wasn’t worth it. I feel horrible this morning. Anyway today I am back on track.
Question: Should I be taking a probiotic during a juice fast?
Question: Does anyone know the effects of taking Antabuse while fasting?
My main purpose was for weight loss and detox, but I think to stay strong I need to do this for spiritual reasons as well. To help me stay focused I am reading John Piper’s Hunger for God. It is available for free download at:

Hi DanieKay, If you are fighting alcohol, it may be best to get past that first. I wouldn’t be taking any medication during fasting, unless it was life threatening to be off the meds.
That said, raw foods while you are on the meds will help you. If you and your doctor feel you can drop the Antabuse than juice fasting would be a great start! You will detox your body, and heal it too!!
Fasting is a great way to get closer to God! There is nothing more spiritual than prayer and fasting! To deny your very being for our Lord does NOT go unrewarded by Him!! I will pray for your success. God Bless, Ron
Thank you Ron
