Doing 30 days of Juice/Water Fasting. Starting January 25, 2011
Reasons for Fasting:
I am fasting again after having completed only 6 days on the Master Cleanse from January 2nd-January 9th 2011. I had intended to go the full 10 days and then water fast for all of January, but I kept slipping up. I got very sick on the 6th day of the MC because I was still smoking a lot of cigarettes and cheated with a few cups of coffee at work (no solid food, though). I got ill while shopping for more lemons at the Seward Cafe in my hometown and almost asked my boyfriend to call an ambulance because a very weird, ill feeling came over me. I am therefore: fasting to try to quit smoking cigarettes once and for all, and to lose weight. My birthday is June 29th. I wanted to be down to 150 pounds by my birthday, this has been my goal all year, and there is no way I'll get to that without fasting.Past Fasting Experience:
I have done several shorter-term fasts. When I was 17 I was addicted to meth amphetamines for a year so I wasn't eating much at all, dropped down to like 118 pounds and when I stopped doing the drugs, I had to give my son up for adoption when he was 5, and I got extremely depressed - binge drank and became an alcoholic, and gained so much weight - topped out at 280. I had gotten down to 186 last winter via 3 day fasts at a time, dieting, and exercising a LOT. I am back up to 213 now after having gotten a 2nd DWI and was on house arrest and got pretty depressed and inactive. (I had two years sober before slipping up and drinking). I have not had a drink since September 7th. No desire to drink alcohol, it's just the binge eating and chain smoking that are standing in my way to my goal of being the healthiest self I can be.Present Diet:
I have had days where I only ate apples, days where I didn't eat all day but then had pizza, but for the most part I've started juicing, but still eating solids with the juice. I bought my juicer 3 weeks ago and enjoy making celery-carrot-apple juice, with ginseng, or tomato-carrot juice, etc. I've also been eating salads such as kale, with red pepper, avocado, etc. Today I am looking to not eat at all but will be going to the gym with a co-worker, just to get a kickstart to my fast.Supplements:
Just multi vitamins and aloe vera super food that I add to my juices.Relevant Medical History:

How can I do keep my strength up to do this? I live in Minnesota, also known as Minnesnowta, where we have very cold winters and we are right in the middle of winter. I walk to and from work which is almost a mile each way. Can I do this safely?

I am an ex drug addict and have worked with many people over the years helping them get free of drugs, online or here at the retreat.
Juice fasting with lots of juice is the way to start.
You got sick as your body hit the overload point.
It was detoxifying and the drugs increased the toxin load to your liver.
So great that you can be honest and open as that is the path to freedom.
We will be glad to support you on your journey of transformation.
I think fasting is a great way for ex drug addicts to recover. However do you really think there are still drug toxins in my body after all these years? I stopped using meth when I was 18 and I’m almost 25 now (still about half a year to go), I did use it heavily, but just wondering if you think I still have some in my body that needs to get detoxed out.
My other question to you was in my Questions category. Is it safe for me to juice/water fast and still be walking almost a mile to and from work on a daily basis during the winter? We’ve had a couple zero and below days for temps, and I guess I’m not sure what my/the limits are for physical activity when on prolonged fasting.
Also.. I’m 5’9″ and weight 213 pounds. I have a larger sized frame well overall a bigger build, and most of my friends tell me I don’t look fat at all, I just looked normal and proportional, even my mom said that. However, all health charts say I should be between 130-169 at the most for my age and height.
Either way, even if I don’t look fat to others, I know better. Lol. I could easily afford to lose 60 pounds. Does this seem reasonable to do by June 29th? Actually…. I would prefer to lose it by May 1st. That’s when it starts getting a little warmer in Minneapolis. So.. May 1st? Plausible? Thanks for any feedback. I am almost done with 24 full hours of my fast, it’s 6am here now, and technically it will be 24 hours at 9am.
I’m on day 1.5 or so. I’ve had three cups total of freshly juiced vegetables and a little ginger juiced in as well. On top of that I’ve been drinking lots of water. I must say that I’ve had a few cups of black coffee. Also I’ve been a smoker since I was 15. I didn’t buy another pack tonight, I’m hoping to stop smoking for the duration of my fast. Otherwise I won’t get all the health benefits…. Anyways, my scale is weird. It’s saying I’m anywhere from 204-207 pounds now, but the scale at my gym reads a little higher than that generally, I just haven’t been there recently in the last few days to compare. I hope that’s right though.
Hey aarykah …thanks for taking time to comment on my wall. yes its been a long time but I am loving it… I have lost about 7kgs = 14pounds ??. according to my scale. Ihave to do three days of Raw food as I losing alot of weight but now I back to juice and water till Feb 10… wish me luck !
Glad you are fasting as well.. you sound like you are making good progress… dont give up …!!
