Doing 3 days of Water Fasting. Starting January 29, 2011
Reasons for Fasting:
Spiritual closeness with the Lord Jesus Christ. I'm starting college/uni soon and I want to seek God in fasting at least twice a month until I graduate... After the first semester I hope to do a thirty day fast on water alone, right now I can only afford to fast weekends (Friday included.)Past Fasting Experience:
I've done three day juice fasts, partial fasts and pure water fasts in my past but not really for a spiritual purpose - I used to be a hypochondriac but the Lord set me free from that! (I thought I had cancer, but went for tests and none was found) Now I'm living fully for Him and for showing His perfect love to my neighbors/fellow humans. I know what it's like to be depressed and feel useless and lonely. God put me through some bad experiences to teach me and to give me a chance to feel what the worst off in society feel... I'm grateful that I can now sympathize with some people who, before I experienced the same thing, I could not.Present Diet:
I eat a very healthy diet. I've managed to cut out refined and unrefined sugar, ALL MSG (it comes under about 50 different names!), aspartame, ma-made sludge (vegetable oils), aluminum, eat less salt, coffee, teas, soft drinks, candy, chocolate (occasional dark), and even gave up dairy products such as cheese, ice cream and milk! I eat a diet rich in beans, whole-grains, vegetables, extra-virgin coconut oils+flax/hemp oil+extra-virgin olive oil, fruits, home-made bread, free-range chickens/eggs, a little beef, a little honey and heaps of water!Supplements:
Garlic, onions, Vitamin C, Aloe Vera. No drugs!Relevant Medical History:
High blood pressure, past history of eating nearly everything that is harmful to the human body!Present Medication or Drug Usage:
None.State of Mind:
Ready to worship the Lord!Limitations:
I'm rather average in weight (no fat and overall muscular) and I may be the geographical location of the bottomless pit! I can eat anything I want and remain the same weight - however when I fast (even for just three days) I start to grow... thinner! I'm kinda scared to go on for forty days!Questions:
I was wondering if it is possible for a person who may become very skinny on a longer fast to do it safely (without supervision) and to recover and regain the weight that was lost after the fast is over. I have a very strong immune system so I guess I could regain the weight fast, but I'm still a bit unsure whether it would be advisable for me to fast.
