Fasting and Medication
It is wise to consult your doctor regarding the effect of fasting combined with your medication. If you must take medication, take it with juice on a juice fast, to protect the stomach. Do not water fast while on medication.

I am 39 and want to lose some weight as well as experience the cleansing, spiritual and healing benefits of fasting. The thing is, is that I am on an anti-convulsant (Lamictal 150mg, twice a day). I consulted with a pharmacist who was TOTALLY against. How can I fast in a safe way and without having the concentration of the medication become dangerously high?
Hi Angie M
If you want a therapeutic fast for bipoloar disorder or seizures you have to very slow as a toxin release can trigger a episode. Juice fasting can be very effective with neurological disorders. The key is to drink lots of juice and have some banana or avocado for about 5 days, then go to juice. You can continue to take the medication with juice fasting. Water fasting could easily trigger an episode.
You also want to take supplement with the juice such as B complex, E, Q10, Kelp, essential oils.
Hi Tom I’m about to go on a long juice fast and want to do P 90x during it to help me lose weight. My problem is that I have a bulging disk in my back and i take perocet 10’s daily. I was just wondering if I can still take my pain meds while juice fasting, Also if I’m going to do P 90x during the fast should I add in protein or raw eggs to my juice or even Bcaa’s. Thank you for time
I am trying the master cleanser in two days. But I’m taking Welbutrin and not sure if I should stop taking it during the cleanse. I cannot get my doctor to call me back and if I’m going to do this it need to be in two days while I have time off from work.
