Ask a Question
January 12, 2008
Hey Tom, once again, thanks for all your responses. I had another question since now I am on day one of the fast. Could one consume jelly jam or say marmolaid jam or is that breaking the rules. Also what would warning signs be as time to STOP. I am doing this on my own accord and not with a doctor.
Nathan
If you eat marmilaid that is a marmolaid fast. If you blend it with water, it will be a marmolaid juice fast. You may be the first to try it, going where no marmilaid eater has gone before. Not technically a juice fast but you will detoxify.
If you add up the extra fat on your body then multiply it by about 3500 calories per day. Then divide it by 1500 calories for the first week and 1200 calories for the second week and 1000 calories or less for the 3rd week then you can get an idea of how long you can fast on water. As to juice you could live on it. I heard of a guy who did 3 years to protest the War in Vietnam. When you see a lot of ribs and when you sit down and feel bone then you are getting close to using all your body fat. At that stage the body’s metabolism will drop down to 600 calories per day. The end of the human calorie reserves may be over 90 days for people with 40 lbs. of excess fat and a slow metabolism.
So what exactly stops a fast. Like the instant say a peanut is eaten or what. So jam wouldn’t cause a stop.
Nathan
One peanut will not stop a fast but 300 peanuts will. It is all about calories and metabosism. If your body has less calories than your body need your body starts to detoxify detoxification. Technically, one glass of juice will end a water fast and any food will end a juice fast. But there are many ways to detoxify the body. Read Detox Methods

How do you combat hunger during the first couple of days? Any tips?

Using the enema eliminates hunger completely. I do not like to use it as it is not the most fun event but when I cannot started I just use it twice on day one and after that I am fasting.
Another trick is to drink water for the first day. By afternoon, you will be in the detox cycle and the hunger will disappear but usually you get headaches and irritable with it.

This is my first fast. I have read through all the information on this site and have decided to do a 10 day water fast. The only thing that I have concerns with are how to prevent diarrhea. I work outside of town and would like to know if there is a preventative measure I can take to work with me.

I was going to continue taking Calcium + Vit D Pills, One-a-Day Vit, and Vit-C pills during a water fast. Is this ok?

You will not get diarrhea on a water fast but the very first juice you drink, will usually cause diarrhea for about 30 minutes. It is another cleansing reaction. Diarrhea may happen on a juice fast as the pulp build up in the colon, and as it does not move through the body reacts. When this occurs using the enema, will stop the reaction.
Do not take vitamins during a water fast they just sit in the stomach as there is no digestion occurring.
Water fasting is very difficult unless you have a slow metabolism, if you get weak have some sweetened herbal tea.
If you want, you can send us a pic and info and we can make a post, where you can post your fasting journal. EX “Day one: felt a bit weak, bad headache but made it.”
