    Day Before the fast

Today is the day I have decided to fast. I ate very light today. In the morning I had a cup of tea and some crackers. Lunch I had some vegetables and a cup of rice. At 2:00 pm I decided to stop eating. I am going to do 20days water fast. My main goal is to get healthy, I am not going to worry about how fast I lose the weight or go crazy over the scale. In the past whenever I weigh myself everyday, I get frustrated and give up. I am just going to tell myself, everyday i fast I am one step closer to my goal .

My goal weight is 160 pounds, My goal weight for this fast is to get under 200 pounds.

    Here is my stats:

    Current weight: 248
    height: 5’8
    Gender: female
    age: 23

Any one would like to be my buddy, that would be nice, I could use the support.

    Happy fasting everyone

hi, I’d like to be a buddy. I am fasting starting tomorrow. I was looking for a fasting buddy. I have fasted before– with GREAT results. It’s hard the first week and I could use the help. I am a 38 yo female. My email is nowimthatgirl50@aol.com

I fasted after each of my pregnancy’s to get the weight off and feel better. I have gained a lot back– BUT it took 5 years to gain it back.

If I can make it past the first week– I’ll be ok ..lol..

Let me know if you’re interested.

Hi gf123, Welcome to our site! It seems you have your mind made up about the way you will be fasting. It is great that you have the courage and resolve to help yourself physically, mentally and spiritually!

I would like to impart a few hints on a successful fasting experience. Usually, a “first” fast is short. And several fruit and veggie juiceses would be a good choice over coconut, which is fattening and one demensional nutritionally.

Water fasting is very hard to do. I don’t want to discourage you, but many first time water fasters never make it past 3 or 4 days. It would be better to build up your experience and confidence with a few short fasts of juice and water. Then plan your bigger undertaking of “water only” after a few successes.

This may not be an appropriate analogy but….think of unloading groceries from your car after a big shopping! If you try to carry all the bags at once you are risking hurting yourself or your items in many ways. If you carry only what you can “manage” you will have success and confidence that everything will make it to the cupboard! Once you know what you can “manage” you will add more and more with the experience you’ve gained over time.

I can’t count the number of people that have come here over the years with your formula of water fasting for a few weeks or more only to fail miserably and give up totally on fasting. If they just would have done a little research and changed the way they approached fasting….it may have helped them to make it a life changing experience instead of an embarrasment and disappointment.

I usually tell first-timers to start with a healthful diet for a week or more before fasting. All the time plotting your first fast! Then do a juice fast of 3-5 days. Plan another juice fast of 5-10 days within a week or two of your first. Once you’ve had a few short fasts…”try” a long juice and water fast of 20-30 days. Notice I said “try”….Keep in mind, YOU are the ruler of your fast. Not the other way around. If you feel you want to stop at any point, for any reason you have that option. You can always start another fast. Just try to do it within a time frame that you “pre” designate. This way you won’t put it off, and you will keep yourl momentum going.

There is nothing on earth like fasting! This is a wonderfull gift that our Lord has given us..AND that we can give Him! It heals our bodies, minds and spirits. And the Lord blesses us abundantly for our pain and trouble with healing and attention to our needs. I will pray that you are led by the Lord in your fasting. Please ask us any questions and feel free to explore the site for many, many testimonials, great, helpful caring people and a wealth of info! God Bless, Ron

    Hi Ron,

Thank you so much, your advice really helped me. I was suppose to fast yesterday, but I couldn’t, so I started my fast today. I was originally planning to do 20 day water fast and 20 days coconut water fasting.

When I said coconut fasting, I did not mean I was going eat the coconut or drink coconut milk, I meant that I was going to drink the water from coconut because I heard it has many nutritional benefits. After reading what you recommend , I think you are right. I think I should start slowly so that I don’t set myself up for failure.
Instead of doing water fasting I have decided to do juice fasting as long as I can, then take a break and start another fast again.
