Hi Melissa,
I do not want to discourage you but go slow and stay rather than make fasting a bandage, lean, get a juice, and try some juicing to get your feet wet.
I have seen these statements over and over and very few make the goal.
Thankyou Tom. I already messed up today. I am very discouraged. I am very sad with the way my life is going, and I’m only getting fatter by the day. Seems like I am never full. I eat, eat all day long. I’m so sad because I was doing sooo good until a couple months ago I was almost at goal even! And since I have gained back twenty pounds. Pathetic. I would like to do juicing at the beginning and ending of my fast, but I can’t seem to even get that started Everyday I wake up saying today is the day, but then the hunger wins, and I give in too easily, I don’t know where my strength has gone
Hi Melissa,
When hunger wins its because your body is malnourished. Even though you have been eating a lot, which has caused you to gain weight, you haven’t nourished your body, thus your body is calling out for more nutrition. The key is to eat nutrition dense food before you attempt to fast.
Try this and see if it helps.
1) Every day have lots of RAW dark leafy greens, sprouts, and fruit before any processed food.
The best way to take in your dark leafy greens is in a smoothie. Make your favorite fruit smoothie (without yogurt or milk) and add any dark leafy green. Start with small amounts of green and try to increase the green to fruit ratio gradually.
Sprouts are great in salads and even sandwiches. You can toss them in to almost any dish, just make sure they are fresh and raw.
This will provide your body the nutrition it needs.
Once you have successfully added this to your diet it’s time to start eliminating.
2) Stop all starches and animal product for a week.
then….
3) Do at least several days of only juices, preferable a week.
Now….
4) Your body should have had a chance to absorb some nutrition and can sustain a fast. Start slow, listen to your body. If you are TRULY hungry, have some juice; if that’s not enough, have a smoothie, preferable with greens; if that’s not enough have some sprouts and an all-vegetarian, raw, salad, without dressing (use lemon and just a touch of olive oil if you must). Then try juicing for a day and restart your fast.
*** Remember, the point of a fast is to detox so you can be healthy, weight loss is only part of the benefits of detoxing and being healthy. If you’re suffering during your fast you are merely starving your body and you will do more harm then good.
I hope this helps! If you decide to try this let me know how it goes.
Good Luck!
Loren
Hi Loren!
Thankyou for your advice!! Well my fridge and cupboards are empty and I have no money to go buy anything but thankyou so much for your help. As of 2:00 today I am done eating. When I do have enough money I am going out and buying these foods you mentioned that way if I need to eat I will have it on hand, better than junk, it totally makes sense what you have told me. I also want after this fast a new healthy way of eating and you definatley gave me some good advice for that.
Melissa, How are you doing?
Loren, that was great advice. I believe so many people are overweight and feel miserable because they are undernourished. When we start feeding our bodies food that is high in nutrients, we end up needing less… and greens are so important!
