    Hi Beatrice
A fast is a great way to start the year. I use an enema on the first day to get over the first day.
    Tom

  2. Beatrice says:

Oh! thank you so much Tom! I am so ecstatic that you wrote. Excuse my ignorance, what is an enema, and how different is it from a master cleanse? And why do you think it is important to do?

  3. Beatrice says:

Can’t believe its one day to go. Stilly trying to figure out the whole enema idea and whether we actually have kits in our country. If I can’t find any, I will just do the salt flush.
I am abit anxious but yet looking forward to discovering more about myself.
Get ready, I am on my marks!

  4. melissa752 says:

    Hey Beatrice;
Check out your pharmacy for enemas. They should be in around the laxatives.

  5. Beatrice says:

I did try to check out three different pharmacy for enemas but alas !I won’t kill myself but will do the salt flush as orignally planned, for a couple of days.
Just a quick question: I had a ventral hernia repair early this month … is fasting still okey ? I am assuming that it should be and help with the healing but just checking for a second opinion.

Tomorrow – finally the D day is here !! looking forward.

  6. Beatrice says:

By th way thanks Melissa for your thoughtful advice !! congratulations for making it to 151 pounds …very inspired by your dertermination…you go girl.

  7. Beatrice says:

3rd day of my 40 day fast and is loving it. My real motivation/goal for fasting is really really simple: Health – This for me encompasses, spiritual, physical, emotional and social.

Physical – I want to be able to give my body the gift of healthy food for this year and see what that is like. I also want to say goodbye to fluctuating weight.

Spiritually – I want to grow in my relationship with the Lord and I want to be deliberate about that. I am beginning to read the Bible through the year starting Wednesday. I hope that I can work through some of the habits in my life that I am already aware of that hinder me from growing.

Socially – I have lovely people in my life who are also very toxic and draining, I need to stay away from them because of the negative influence and replace them with new friends.

Financially – I want to manage my money well i.e living within my means and get rid of things that drain our finances. I would like to be able to save more money than spend. E.g the car is up for sale, and we are considering moving to a smaller house – very liberating experience.

Intellectually – I want to be able to read something new for 30 minutes every day in one of my areas of interest.

So, for me it is a real overhaul, a serious undertaking and this fast will give me a foundation. I am hoping that I can transition into raw food for the rest of the year….this is a bit scary because it can be socially isolating..but apart from that..I mean….cooked food is good.!! So I am not going away after the 40 day fast but I am pitching my tent here and I will keep you posted.

I have decided that since I cannot find enema kits here, I will do 3 days of raw food and then transition in to a sort of master cleanse i.e Water Lemon, Cayane salt flush. For the rest of the days I will drink, water and juice, and eventually raw food.
I am a bit scared but I am looking forwad to it.

So my plan looks like this:

    3 days of raw food
    10 days of Master Cleanse
    10 days of Water
    10 days of Juice
    3 days of Water
    4 days of Juice
Then eventually raw food till December…Haaa!!

This seems ambitious but I guess I better keep my eyes on the prize ahead of me.

2011 here I come.., are you ready?!! Happy New Year to me, and anyone else in a similar pursuit.

    Beatrice, stay strong!

What we are doing is so hard; it is so challenging!

But you are going to do this, and you are not going to falter.

And one day, you are going to look back on this moment with the fond memories.

You are going to remember the time you met life face to face.

    Do it!

  9. Beatrice says:

    ….====== Day 5

Been mostly on raw food !! taking off slowly but sure. I have lost at least a pound since I begun . Experienced some intense headache yesterday..took a pain reliever because I didnt want to be stressed by it.The head ache is now gone with the wind.

Managed to convince hubby dearest and the kids to join the cleansing diet and they are on it !! Real miracle of miracles.Kids though are on raw food diet and they are doing well. one noticable thing is before they started the diet 2 of them had very bad breath ..key word here is BAD and now its GONE no kidding !! Another had like a stomach bug and a high fever a day before the Raw Diet… Introduced him to the RD the next day, didnt give him any medication and by yesterday he was back to himself and is running around the house … yeah !!

==== Day 6 I am hoping to move out of RD to some sort of Master cleanse (lemons, cayenne and may be SWF) for a couple of days. !!So looking forward to this next phase of my Journey.

    Stay tuned !

  10. Beatrice says:

Day 6 … started on salt water flush.. didnt quite work as I expected…

Day 7 tried Salt water flush with a teaspoon of soda biocarbinate – increased the quantity of Sea salt to 2tbs and boy or boy …the flood gates were opened… it was quite an experience…but a good one.I am planning for another SWF tommorow …before I embark on a water fast.

Kids: Are doing great.. They are my greatest highlight on this fast ..Begininng to notice a great improvement on their skins – a brightness and all the rashes seem to be fading out…they also seem to be experiencing some energy out break……love it ! as they have been running around the house alot.
Normally they would nap in the afternoon but they seem not to need it ..hmmm. but they go to bed early by ====7pm and do it very easily.

    • Vincent says:

I am glad that the SWF came through, and came through quite powerfully. I think that you are easing yourself into the water fast very well. Do you think that there is still any more stuff left in there after todays flush out?! jst wondering.

  11. mindnhealth says:

Wow congrats on getting this far, however, how to you manage to do flush afer flush. I just cant get past the taste…Keep up the good work

  12. Beatrice says:

Day 10 === and I have decided to take a different route – Water fast for this week .Kinda scared but is so determined to take the water fast by its horns..

Water fast bring on your worst …i will take it in JC’s name.

    Kids update:

SDay 10 and are doing very well… kissing bad breath good bye. Noticed my 2year olds skin rash is clearing. My youngest son though seems a little irritable but other than that they are happy.

  13. ericah says:

I appreciate your updates Beatrice – doing great!

  14. Beatrice says:

Day 13 === didnt quite take off with water fast but just been doing it up to evening and then eat a fruit … but want to do a SWF ..tried to do one yesterday …drank the solution too fast and I puked …yes all of it.

Anxious to begin the water fast… Today should be my day !!!.planning to go out for a little walk later in the day.

Kids are doing great and are here with me: Just noticed one of the kids has lost some weight but the rest seem to be stable. Planning to increase on ovacadoes and nuts in his diet see if he can/ will regain some weight other than that the kids seem to be loving the new diet. something I am thankful for. One of the kids told me this morning that she likes the RFD.

  15. Beatrice says:

Day 16: Still going strong… ! S glad I started off with raw food . its made the water fast ..a really walk over ..well for now.I have no no strong cravings, no hunger pangs..no headaches… no blood sugar issues… its clean and fun.

I have lots of energy …unbelievable…Thank Lord.

    Kids

Doing great… thinking through a healthy transition plan for them.

  16. melissa752 says:

    Beatrice, Wonderful!
    Your doing great!
I’m still here as well, just not having time for posting.
I know your main reason for fasting is not weight loss, but I am curious, how much have you lost this far?
I am wondering because I seem to be stuck!!
I am doing well and actually introduced some juicing to my water fast but the scales aren’t budging. I’m hanging in there and trying to stay strong but it’s such a downer, it just want to be at goal already!!
Maybe I am too active? Wonder if there is such a thing. In the last 3 days I have walked 15 miles.

    • Beatrice says:

Thanks Melissa for writing. I am so glad you are still with us. It is very encouraging because man….you get to a point where updating progress reports is getting routine and boring, but encouragements like yours are great.

I have actually lost 6kgs which should be about 12lbs. I think what really helped me is the fact that I did the raw food for 10 days and then decided to transition slowly to water and a little bit of juice. I just weighed myself yesterday.

I am just wondering could you be at the plateau? From the little I have read, it sounds like you have been at it for a while, and yet it seems you have lost some weight. Sometimes, it may help to just not do anything for like a week and then just shock your body with excercise and fasting after that..just thinking.

What kind of juice are you taking? What is it like in terms of calories? I find that that the green vegetable juices are good for not only keeping hunger at bay but are also low on calories.

I think you are doing great as well, and you should not give up.

  17. melissa752 says:

I have thought about plateau also but man I never thought it would be this tough or long of a process. It’s just the last 20, well 10-15 now. But it’s soo slow. I have been trying to shock my body, maybe I just don’t take enough off days. Last time I did was like 3 days over the holidays, and I still watched what I ate. So weeks later I just don’t get it :( But I’m sticking thru it. I have only juiced a little, so I only consumed small amounts, still lots of water. But I had pears and tomato, not together of course lol. I also had a couple nibbles of tuna the night that was extreme physical exercise, I thought it might do me good, but haven’t seen much good yet. Anyway hopefully in a week or so I can just be happy I reached goal.
    Thanku

Day 17===== characterised by – lots of energy, very alert and my Brain seems to be hyperactive..can tell from my dreams… are very vivid.
Mood:stable and happy for the most part.
Skin : mostly clear and smooth
    Weight: lost 6kgs
Water: drinks lots of water with a bit of lemon in it…this evening had some sugar cane juice.
Food :High sense of smell for food esp when Neighbours are cooking :) but not bothered by it.No food cravings whatsoever…this unbelievable.!!

Best part/ stage of the fast !!!

  19. Beatrice says:

Day 19 and 21 days to go ..yeah!!

Nothing to complain about – The fast has become so much apart of me that I no longer think about it. Because I am getting smaller every passing day I have decided to introduce some little juice that I only drink at the end of the day.

I love how I look now and the fact that I able to fit into my clothes (size 4-6) again after a very long time (4 years )of not being able to !!

  20. Beatrice says:

26days… 14 days… Ready to run with water fast again … then will alternate that with juice till the end….. this fast has been the greatest and best thing that has ever happened to me…Thank you Lord …

I can’t believe you’ve gone so long. How much weight have you lost exactly?

  22. altrocker says:

WOW! Great work Beatrice! From what I read you’re a very dedicated person… your kids are really lucky! Keep it up and keep on posting – I’m still reading up a lot more before I get my feet wet in a longer fast – Although I’m definitely doing one at the end of semester break.
