- marieat: Thanks again for your replies. They are so appreciated and much needed. I have 2 more questions for you and I believe I’m done, at least asking questions that is. For someone who has 125 pounds to lose, what amount of water would you suggest? Also there is something called water...
- Tom Coghill: Marieat, I find water fasting more effective with less water. The immune system cleans and it does not need water to do that. During eating you need water for digestion and many people drink too little. When fasting, if you are not thirsty do not drink. Listen to your body.
- Tom Coghill: Mrsd496 Hi doris, oh yea green is water in the fidge will keep fresh longer. I prepare my veggies the night before and put them in water in the refrigerator saves time juicing. Your body will heal over weeks. The biggest healing is after 21 to 30 days. And believe, as fasting with...
- marieat: I so appreciate your replies. Yesterday I had 7 bottles of 16.9 oz. water, a cup of oolong tea, 2 sets of oil pulling and the Herbs & Prunes. Is 7 bottles of water too much? I was doing it because of reading you should drink half your weight in ounces.
- mrsd496: Hi Tom: My 4th day. No complaints. seem to have a headache coming on again. I feel a little more weak than yesterday. Going to get out for awhile. My son is suppose to go fishing with me on wenesday if it is nice and I feel up to it. Oh yes church holds for a long time. We left early...
- Tom Coghill: Hi Marieat, The salt water flush is good but to repeat it over and over has little benefits. Too much water is not good as it can flush out electrolytes as with too much salt.
- Tom Coghill: Hi Mrs496 The fast will get better the longer you fast. WOW, 4 hours of church, ouch, the mind is willing but the butt and back are not. LOL1 Thank for buying, that money goes sooooo far here where they make $1 a day.
- marieat: Thanks Tom. How cool that you were his inspiration. I appreciate everything Robert has on his site. I just could never get any answers to any questions on the site, so I appreciated it. I did read about the cayenne pepper. Can you add it to just plain water? Also, is drinking 1 gallon of...
- mrsd496: Hi Tom: thanks for all the answers. I am in my 3rd day now. Went to church I was alright except my back really hurt after awhile and I was a bit weak. But church is from 10 am till 2:30 or so. I feel I did fine. Smile The itching and ticks are much better today. I wasn’t hungry...
- Tom Coghill: Hi Marieat, Robert of fitnessthroughfastin g.com is a good friend. He stated on the phone I was his inspiration to build his site. I tried to get him out here with us but he is working. Salt water flushes are only good for one day. There is no benefit repeating it. Weight loss slows...
- marieat: Forgot one other thing I’m taking Body Balance liquid vitamins. Thanks!
- marieat: It’s so nice to find a site where they actually answer questions. I found a lot of info at fitnessthroughfastin g.com and that’s what I’ve been trying to follow. I admit I’ve been a stop and starter but I feel now is the right time. And I have 125 pounds to lose....
- Tom Coghill: Hi Annita, Follow your body. That amount of juice is fine. I have drank 4 times that when working constuction.
- Tom Coghill: Hi Cosmic A long fast is very effective in cleansing the bowel. Nothing else required except taking probiotics as the end of the fast. You body can handle toxins if you are eating greens and fresh fruits. The body gets toxic when it is never cleaned and forced to live on a processed...
- Tom Coghill: Hi kat08232, I would do the enema every 3 day and go to juicing for 3 days. When fasting is that hard it is not a positive experience and the next time you need a fast your will have a hard time getting started. Try carrot, beet, apple, celery, cucumber, garlic, pineapple,...
- Tom Coghill: Hi Mrsd464, Yea cut the lemons it could be an allergic reaction to a component in the juice. You will feel better with more energy the longer you fast.
- Tom Coghill: Hi Skywalker Hunger of a fast is common even with the enema on a prolonged fast. Just takes more disciple. Seems to be triggered by food. Now that I have a family, I have more hunger during fasting as there is more food around.
- Tom Coghill: Hi Mrsd464 Doris you may find a juicer in a thrift shop really cheap. Ebay is great for cheap champions. Mine is 35 years old and still good. Your blood pressure will stay normal for the length of the fast and after the fast if you eat healthy. This is radical info to a doctor. It...
- Annita: Hi Tom, Thank you for your response. Day 5 for me today. I feel a bit more tired than usual, but nothing that would stop me getting on with my daily routine. I started at 85kg, a body fat index of 45.3% and a BMI of 31.2. Today I was 78.2kg, have a BFI of 41.6% and a BMI of 28.7. I seem...
- cosmic: I’ve done a few water fasts in the past. This is my 1st juice fast. I started 07/28. I plan to do 30 days. Ive lost 11 lbs so far. I am a bit lethargic. I’ve been alternating juice and veggies daily. I’ve done only 1 enema & am a bit concerned about reintroducing...
- kat08232: Hello everyone, I’ve been meddling around this site since I started my water fast, but, at day 10 I have some questions because this is the most severe of all the fasts I’ve done before. I’m extremely nauseous, and I’ve seen some suggestions that drinking water...
- mrsd496: Hi Tom: I found the juice extractor on a shelf in the closet. Still new but no book. It was simple enough. Got a lot of juice. I still have the pains and itching prickly feeling. I can stand it. Might be from smoking lots of years. I don’t feel too bad though. I am going out to the...
- skywalker: Is this normal? Hi Tom. I’m in day 11 of my juice fast. I still get hungry often. I heard that hunger should go away after the 4th day, but is still here. I drink teas, fruit/vegetables juices, and broth at night. I also take 1 or 2 enemas per day. Although I spent a lot of time...
- mrsd496: Thanks Tom: I went and got the book! It is a food processor don’t know why I thought it was a juicer. Not sure what they cost. Wow. Didn’t even think to look just knew I had a juicer. smile. I feel a little better today. Still have a headache. My B/P has really gone down....
- Tom Coghill: Hi latoyale Yes you can take the aspirin to get through the initial headaches caused by detoxification. As I stated to Doris, fill your mind with every thankful, positive thought. If fear is rooted in your behavior then you will have a very hard time breaking the fast correctly.
- Tom Coghill: Hi Mrsd496 That sounds like a blender. Breaking coffee is hell if you are coming off years of coffee. The ticks could be from your nerves healing or toxins irritating your nerves. It should pass soon. Fill your mind with positive uplifting thoughts even when things are bad and you...
- latoyale: Today is day number 1 for me. The one overwhelming emotion I have is fear. I’m afraid of the discomfort this fast is going to bring me. I know my system is very toxic. I am now 230 pounds from eating a lot of junk food and fast foods. I am drinking juice and water. The goal is 21...
- mrsd496: Hi Tom: I just started my juice fast. few problems, how do you get the vegges to break down in the juicer? I did carrots, apple, ginger, but they seem to be grainey, not juice as I know it. I put it through a seive. way too mushy for me to try to drink. I am using the thing with the...
- Tom Coghill: Hi Jolv192, Juicing gives more energy than any bottled drinks. Check your local thrift stores.
- Tom Coghill: Hi Niceguy09 for a fast of 35 days, break the fast very slowly. The breaking it the hard part. If you do have a blackout the trick is to get down on one knee. Other than that post your progress.
- Tom Coghill: Hi Annita, Taking most supplements during water fasting is a bad idea for the reason you stated. They do not digest. Yes blending them, or powderdering them will help them digest and you may need to up the juice amount. Yes a 40 day water fast is doable. Just keep us posted. For a...
- niceguy09: Hi Tom I am on week two of a 35 day fast. I am having only one cup of clean water every few days, varying so that I get a few long sets without water with one cup on one day in between and also short sets where I get to drink one cup of water in between, one cup per day except when dry...
- joliv192: today I started a ten day juice fast which is preceding a five day water fast. No real difference yet obviously. For juice I am using store bought juice, which I know some people look down on, but it is from a small organic food company and they basically just squeeze the juice out of a...
- Annita: Hi Tom, Just to update you, I have been doing colonic irrigations daily and it seems that the small amount of tomato juice was not enough to incite digestion. I have found today that I didn’t digest 1 of the two supplements. The cayenne pepper, green tea, bee pollen is digested and...
- Tom Coghill: Hi Brian, Wise move on the OTC. You need to get to the point where you stomach is healing. The battle of the flesh…. books have been written. For most the flesh is the dictator of decisions. Fasting with prayer truly is the ultimate battle of the spirit over the flesh. For that...
- Brian: Ok – Since I did not see your comment until this morning, I took an OTC heartburn pill. I felt much better. I also started taking the probiotic again. This morning I decided to take a multivitamen to see who I would feel. Today, I am down to 276 from 300. that sound good. However, I...
- Annita: Hi Tom, Thank you so much for your reply. Is tomato juice suitable and is 50ml enough (twice a day, with each supplement)? I’d like to stick as close to a water fast as possible (as long as it’s safe?) and I believe I do have a slow metabolism. I’m naturally a mesomorph,...
- Tom Coghill: Hi Brian, You may want to up the juice amount and add a potato. Juices will help absorb excess stomach acids.
- Tom Coghill: Hi Annita, Many herbs and supplements require some breakdown in the stomach and if there is no digestion they can sit in the stomach and cause stomach upset. I usually am again recommending supplements during water fasting but the list is perfect with juice fasting. Maybe take them...

- Tom Coghill: Hi Shan Many teachers of fasting do not regard vomiting as a danger signal, but as a cleansing process. Eventually it stops. For me this is undue suffering. I always recommend juices. You do not have to suffer to heal or fast. It is very rare for a person to report nausea during...
- shan: Hi Tom, some where i read that nausea, dizziness is common symptoms of fasting.and read somewhere in water fasting forum so many people suffered from nausea through out their fasting. what do u think of nausea.every month i get nausea, dizziness around my periods time.yesterday i got my...
- Tom Coghill: Shan Nausea is not a good sign on a long water fast. I would go to juice fasting for a few days or up the honey and drop the lemons. Try blackstrap molasses stirred into hot water.
- shan: Hi Tom, Thanks for your reply.i’m not looking like bone rack.but my face is like gaunt. i’m only 5 feet.to day is my 31st day of water fast(with lemon juice,7ounces of honey).but i’m having nausea.i don,t know why.and from last 4,5 days, lemon smells making me very sick.and...
- Tom Coghill: Hi Shan At 92 lb after 26 days of water fasting you will be a bone rack. Your normal weight will return very quicky and weightloss will be marginal at this point. As you have no negative effects you are still safe. I did 66 days on juice, small amounts and went down to concentration...
- Fasting for Weight Loss (eat your fat) (13)
- Tom Coghill: Hi TWSPOL One day of breaking to 3 days of fasting. Start with soft fruits on day one. Wait till day two to have a salad. Do not eat grains, milk products or refined foods until the end of the breaking process. Chew your food. If you over eat do a day of fasting. Juicing is great...
- twspol: I really need to know that because my fast is almost done and I don’t know how I will start eating again. Thanks.
- twspol: Hi again Tom, your website have been most helpful. I have a question though: I’m on day 8 of a water fast and will do it until day 14. I’m ~6′0(181cm) and 180 lbs(81Kgs), I have lost about 14 lbs and I think I’ll be 173 by the end of my fast. You often say that the...

- Tom Coghill: Hi Iva, Candida is always helped with fasting, but it goes dormant and returns when there is sugar in the blood. You need a yeast buster, or Candida herbal remedy to that cayenne pepper. Water fasting is better but that is hard to do as the body can be toxic due to the byproducts of...
