Please edit the new fasting book. Read Here

This is the first chapter of the fasting book upgrade. To make corrections just copy the error and paste into comment and we will fix as we go. Do not be afraid to offend me. Look at clarity, impact, spelling, tense, and for excess words. I failed English, and was the worst speller in the school but passion can more than compensate for skill.
Chapter One
New Beginnings
Two men helped Juan up the two steps to the entrance of St. Theodore’s Hospital. Pain slowed his moments like someone advanced in years. Yet, Juan was in his fifties, a healthy robust Filipino reduced to a frail, shadow of a man fighting for life. The wasting syndrome associated with the last stages of cancer was underway. The prostrate cancer had metastasized to the bone causing pain throughout his body. The urinary tract was almost closed due to the pressure of the tumor causing a burning sensation during urination. He was constipated as the tumor was closing off the colon. His money and that of the family was used up in the first round of diagnostics. We were his last hope.
A good friend from Canada stated, if the first cancer patient dies, you risk the entire program. He was right but he had never looked into the eyes of Juan. For if he had, he would see a quiet, resolute belief that God would care for him. His worn out Bible would lie by his bed for the tough days ahead. To say no to Juan was not an option.
I had arrived in the Philippines from Colombia, South America after a 7-year vacation, with a plan to rebuild my websites. After achieving that goal, I went in search of the ultimate location in the Philippines to live. I wanted safety, cool mountain air and low cost living. Sagada was that place, a fascinating collection of contradictions, nestled in the mountains, about 4,500 feet above sea level with an energy that mountain lovers appreciate.
The people of Sagada are shy, stoic, and a little hard to connect with, but once you do their hearts are warm. Their guarded behavior is understandable; after all it wasn’t that long ago headhunting was a tribal custom. In the surrounding tribes, it was a matter of prestige how many heads a man collected. Lucky, headhunting is in the past.
My first trip to Sagada started out with a simple plan. Rent a large house and offer a detoxification retreat on my website. I dropped into the local hospital to see what diagnostic equipment was available. I told Dr Clare, chief of the hospital that I was thinking of starting a fasting retreat in Sagada and her eyes lit up. The hospital had approved a holistic program and she had been researching on Fasting.ws and was surprised that I was now standing in her office. She asked me to set it up the program in the hospital and I agreed. My concept of having a small fasting retreat in Sagada evaporated in the light of a larger dream. Instead of a comfortable retirement, I would lead a hospital program that would gather terminal cancer and life threatening disease to a place where the miracle of recovery became a daily event. Head hunting would become disease hunting when we started looking for the sickest people we could find.
Within the first few days Rev Tuguiney the hospital Chaplin had gotten hold of my book and secretly started fasting. A few days later he announced that a multitude of health conditions were diminishing by the day. A 40- juice fast healed him of hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol, arrhythmias and arthritis. At age 67, after 15-years of expensive medication, he was now medication free. He became the first ambassador of a new system of healing.
Within a few weeks the program opened to the public and the word spread. Patients traveled hours by bus on rough road just to meet us. We received emails from other countries requesting treatment. Meanwhile back in the USA, Patrick O’Connor, of Thefastingpath.com, a holistic coach, and successful inspiration speaker, was surfing the web looking for fellow fasting websites and connected with me. It just took one email describing what was happening and he was on his way. A few weeks later Erica Boucher, an international yoga and hypno-therapist arrived to join the team. Other volunteers came as the word spread.
Although Dr. Clare and I had chosen cancer and a primary focus group to establish the medical evidence for therapeutic fasting, some of the most outstanding results were unexpected. Lewis was nine years old and suffering from asthma, TB and pneumonia and had been hospitalized several times. He had moved from Baguio, which is highly polluted to live with his grandmother in the fresh mountain air of Sagada. His grandmother told Lewis about the fasting program and he wanted to try it. Patrick and I thought he may make a four to five days and that would be enough to cure his lungs, but as Lewis felt better every day, he wanted to keep going and after completing a 30-day fast, his lungs were now perfectly healthy.
Two local women in their 70’s, who completed 30 -day fasts and asked me if was” ok” to play tennis for one hour per day after brisk walking for one and a half hours. I told them,” just inform me if you start playing professionally. I want a cut.”
More testimony snippets?????
I was living my dream. I had retired from the Internet and was directing a fasting program in a hospital. It was the ultimate university. Medical technology, natural therapy, yoga, organic farming and Internet technology and a room filled with computers, surrounded by terminal patients where life and death was in the balance. Outside the window, the mountains of Sagada rose into the mist above the pine trees. My girlfriend Divine Grace, works with me. We have a nice three-bedroom apartment with pine floors, for $60 a month. Great friends, good times, stress-free living and doing something with purpose, life cannot get better. It was part of my life plan, to live without regret, to live to the max, to take calculated risks that could transform my life. And it all started with my 30-day fast many years ago that had changed my life.
Author’s Fasting Testimony
As a youth, I loved microscopes and telescopes and spent hour studying bugs and stars. That natural curiosity led me to use drugs at sixteen years of age. A bad L.S.D. trip resulted in constant, excruciating headaches. To deal with the pain, I started to use painkillers, tranquilizers, cannabis and alcohol. Five hazy years of my life were devoted to escaping pain through drugs.
I became more reckless in my drug use and I injected a syringe full of P.C.P., a dangerous dose that severely damaged my kidneys. The drug abuse damage had stolen my youth and left in its place, a sick old man. My short-term memory was nonexistent; my skin was a sickly yellow. I was constantly tired. My kidneys burned with pain, my leg muscles would spasm and ache while standing. As my job required working on ladders for long hours, I could not work.
One day, I discovered a book called Rational Fasting by Arnold Ehret, describing how a sick man with kidney damage had returned to health. Not only had he overcome a fatal illness through a strict vegetarian diet and fasting, his newfound health surpassed the vitality of his youth. Totally inspired by the book, I started fasting on juices. After several short fasts, I felt better physically and mentally, yet standing on ladders still caused intense pain in my legs, as my body was not fully healed.
A thirty-day juice fast was the turning point in my life. On the twentieth day of the fast, my legs healed and I started working fourteen hours a day, renovating houses in the heat of summer. I started climbing the ladders with ease. My energy levels drastically increased to the amazement of my fellow workers.
There were other improvements as the fast went on. I needed less sleep, my mind cleared, and my memory was now functioning. I had intense back pain that lessened due to the healing of my kidneys. These healing events rebuilt my body into that of a virile young man. The thirty days of fasting on juice was a life-changing miracle, my “new beginning”.
My life was transformed by fasting. I started to help friends who had health problems. Although I could not spell or type, and had almost no writing skills, a burning passion kept me going. I wrote books, built websites and lecture extensively. The success gave me the freedom to travel. A global journey that eventually took me to the Philippines.
On day 10 of the fast, Juan Lisweg was smiling. The deep depression that he had been fighting evaporated with the pain. He could urinate normally and the pain was gone. This was a tremendous encouragement to everyone. In the days ahead, when I became weary, I went in to talk to Juan. Instead of me encouraging him, Juan gave me the strength to keep going. A deep bond was formed of two brothers, worlds apart by birth, yet joined by an event of healing.
