I’m at the end of the 3rd day of a juice fast. Only fresh juices from the following: orange, pear, apple, lemon, grapefruit, cabbage, jalapeno pepper, broccoli, sweet potato, carrot, celery, cucumber, strawberry, blackberry, garlic. I’ve also taken a multivitamin/heart/fiber supplement each day. I’ve stuck strictly to this, no cheating.
Have done mild cardio/strength workouts in the first two days. No alcohol, drugs, etc. And in those first two days, also, about 30 minutes each day in sauna/steamroom. I’m not in particularly good shape: 6 feet tall, 220 pounds, 47 years old.
I have experienced no side effects whatsoever, which concerns me because they seem to be prominent in every juice-fast description I’ve read. No irritability, headaches, dizziness. Other than wanting some food, I’d have to say that I feel pretty much exactly as I always feel.
Could I be doing something wrong? I can’t imagine what, but I’m new at this.
Thanks.

Hi Czar,
Thanks for posting. Some people never get any negative effects from fasting like what you are experiencing. I am fasting with my girl friend and after 20 days all she had that was bad was a bit of weakness and a headache for a few hours.
You are doing it by the book (mine LOL). You can add a few tablespoons of essential oil, found in most health food stores. You are certainly getting a wide spectrum of nutrients with the variety of produce. Yea, keep training but later on you may have days where you are dragged out or ….maybe not. If you want, we can create a page for you. Just send a pic and some background.

I am 200 pounds and plan on fasting on distilled water for 30 days. I thought I would at least need to eat fruits and veggies during my fast but I decided to go cold turkey!

I have never fasted before and I am currently on my third day. I would love to have a buddy to help me stay motivated through the tough times which I am sure are coming but haven’t yet. I have told myself if it gets to difficult I would add juice but so far so good. Please contact me if you would like to buddy up.
Thanks,

Hi JJ,
I am also doing a 30 day fast and hoping to stick to water unless I start having trouble. Then I would add juice if need be. I am not having any trouble right now though.

Hi Carmen
Is this your first time fasting?

Hello again JJ,
Yes, this is my first time and I am a little worried I guess you could say. It’s nice to have a buddy during the process. For the first time I have wanted to eat, but instead put a little lemon juice in my water (not much). I’m not sure if I am actually hungry or if my body wants to eat or if it is out of shear habit. Is this your first time? If not can you tell me a little of what to expect. Tomorrow will be day 5. I am so excited!

Hi there,
I’m on day three of a lemon and maple syrup/cayenne pepper fast, not that hungry…stomach is growlin’ a little but it’s all good…I don’t know how long I want to go, I feel a little out of it, can’t focus on my work…but I like the weight loss (4 pounds in 2 days) and also praying for some clarity and simplicity in my life….I guess I will go as long as I can! I’d sure love to lose 30-40 pounds but I still need to have energy for surfing on the weekends! I think I need a support buddy at this point…this is all new to me. THANKS! AND GOOD LUCK!

Hi STEPHIE
For the first few days of the fast you mind can be in a fog. After about 5 days it becomes very clear.

I worked with a lady whose husband started her on the lemon juice, maple syrup, cayenne pepper cleansing and 2 weeks into it she went into a coma, was in intensive care for 3 months and died. Yeast took over her body and started growing on her heart. I don’t suggest this cleansing to anyone unless you want to committ suicide. Please be very careful and speak with a doctor first.

Hi Donna,
The info sounds suspicious. Yeast needs sugar and lowers during water fasting unless the amount of maple syrup was high.
I found where this info came from…..
http://www.becomehealthynow.com/article/conditionwomen/416/
A yeast cell produces over 75 known toxic substances that consistently poisons the human body. These toxins contaminate the tissues where it weakens the immune system, the glands, the kidneys, bladder, lungs, liver and especially the brain and nervous system. Candida yeast can become so massive and invasive that is enters the FUNGAL form where it provides very long, root-like structures that penetrate the mucous lining of the gastrointestinal wall. This penetration breaks down the protective barrier between the intestinal tract and bloodstream, allowing many foreign and toxic substances to enter and pollute the body systemically. As a result, proteins and other food wastes that are not completely digested or eliminated can assault the immune system and cause tremendous allergic reactions, fatigue and many other health problems. It also allows the Candida itself and bacteria to enter the bloodstream, from which it may find its way to other tissues, resulting in far- ranging effects such as soreness of the joints, chest pain, sinus and skin problems, etc. An autopsy done on a lady who had died of heart failure for no apparent reason, found that her heart was encased with Candida yeast.
This death was not caused by a fast. Candida and lots of maple syrup is a bad idea.

Hi Claudia,
Water fasting is hard for about 70 percent of people. Those with a slow metabolism find it easy. Try juice fasting with periodic water fasting, it is far more enjoyable.

I’m just starting day 5 of a water only fast. It’s hard to believe I made it this far. I want to fast for 20 days straight; if things keep going that way they have been, I’ll make it. It’s been hard. The first two days were ok, but then day three was very hard. I lost all energy and began getting dizzy. I’m glad I ran into this website because it helped me to understand what’s going on with my body. I also felt like I had the flu. But I made it; I spent a lot of time in bead. I’ve noticed that my sleep schedule is off. I guess it’s from the lack of food. I’m doing things slower because of the energy loss, but things are still getting done. I don’t have much in the way of hunger pangs, but when I’m not doing things, my thoughts turn to food. I’ve begun to notice how many food commercials there is on TV so I’ve limited my TV watching. It’s hard to believe I’ve made it this far – 5 days: I feel confident I’ll make it the next 15 days.

Hi, I am on day 3 of a water only fast. Today is very hard for me. I felt totally confident I could do this on the first 2 days, and now I am not so sure. I feel the worst in the morning, and I have to just sit around drinking water to get my strength back, and I am still not really energetic. I have not done an enema yet, and was going to do one this morning, but haven’t had the strength. I have also been taking 1 tablespoon of liquid bentonite to bind toxins in the morning. I am doing this fast because I took an ALCAT test, and have food allergies to 82 of the 200 foods they test for. The test also revealed I have a severe reaction to Candida, which I don’t understand how they can test for. The ALCAT test is done through a blood test. I want to starve the candida out of my body, but read this morning that it won’t work because the body converts muscle into glycogen because the brain needs some sugar, and so there is always some sugar in the body because of this for the candida to live off of. It said that it will weaken the candida, causing it to become dormant, and then coming back when I return to eating again. This information has taken some of my motivation away. Is this true? I did a juice fast once for 10 days, and had horrible spikes up and down. I chose not to do this because of the candida. I also have a large ovarian cysts that I am trying to get rid of , or I will need surgery. I don’t know if the water fast can help this. Thanks for any insight.
