Fasting Cancer Treatment Stage 4 Theresa
February 28, 2009 | | 3,646 Views
Theresa of Bontoc in Philippines was admitted to St. Theodore’s Hospital with terminal cancer which had started on the lymph nodes below the ear and then metastasised to the bone. She had endured surgery, chemotherapy and radiation before she entered the fasting program and had been on morphine for 3 months. She is very thin and frail.
The treatment was one half a liter per day of vegetable juices. We started to see a reduction in pain in the first week. By the second week the pain lessened again. She stopped taking the morphine except at night to help her sleep. The pain was now only in one area her shin. On day 15 of the fast, 2 days ago, the cancer started to regrow and the pain drastically increased. We have seen this before. The cancer mass, pain and symptoms reduce then the cancer changes metabolism to survive in the fasting state. This can happen any where from the third to sixth week of the juice fasting treatment.
We have started to grow the black radish that is famous for it anti cancer properties and famous through the Rudolph Breuss. There are several other treatment options that I want to build into the system but we do not have them now. I would have considered a short-term dose of chemotherapy to disrupt the cancers metabolism but this time the cancer advanced to life-threatening within 24 hours.
Update March 10,2009
After 48 hours of intense pain, Theresa is doing much better now. We have continued the vitamin C, B complex IV, and changed pain medications and cut the morphine and it is working. We are still in a battle for her life. So any prayer is appreciated.
Update March 28, 2009
Theressa went home on Mar 20. On March 28th we recieved a message that Thereasa had pass on. Although we saw many positive changes in the first 2 weeks of the fasting treatment, there were changes on the 3 week indicating that the present treatment was failing. This is a sad day for me. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Tom, I will add Theresa to my prayers.
I did not realize that cancer could “adjust” to fasting–I thought cancer needed sugar to metabolize at all. Does this “adjustment” always happen? Does this mean fasting is only a briefly temporary solution?

Hi Rhet,
Theresa is now doing better. She is in pain but not like before. We have put her on an IV of 2000mg of vitamin C with B complex. It seems to be helping a bit. We are also rotating pain medications, which is working. She is thin, bone thin but that was expected. The patients are on about 1/2 a liter of juice per day. But they are in control of the juice amounts. So I need to go through the files to see what and how much they were juicing. The record keeping a a mess as there is no one to do it. I have seen this reaction 3 times in the last 2 months with the advanced cancers stage 3 and 4. At this stage in the game I have no other help. The black radish is now growing and should be usable in about 30 days. The worms are about to be introduced to their new home. I bought an amazing 4 wheel drive van that will go anywhere.
The renovations are moving along with great speed, about $800,000 worth, donated by St. Lukes Medical Center. I just got back from 3 days on the road. I just talked to Edward from the USA who is coming to help. So that will take some load off.
Thanks for asking Rhet if you ever get some freedom, come on over.

Tom, thanks so much for the update. The prayers must be working, at least for now. Bless members here too for donating to her treatment.
My understanding of how fasting goes after the cancer is the combination of alkaline, very low-sugar juices (cancer needs acidic environments, yes?) and the difference in the way cancer metabolizes vs. regular cells (regular cells can live on ketones, cancer needs sugar, no?) means that fasting this way starves the cancer of the only thing it can eat. Is this how you understand the approach? I am shocked the cancer rallied so hard, but perhaps I don’t understand the science of it.
I know it must be tough to respond with all you are doing, but thanks so much for being so attentive to the voices here. Will pray double for Theresa.

P.S. Tom, forgot to mention.. the “cancer needs sugar” notion (as you most likely know) came from the work of Dr. Otto Warburg, Ph.D., a 1931 Nobel laureate in medicine, first discovered that cancer cells have a different energy metabolism compared to healthy cells. He found that malignant tumors frequently exhibit an increase in anaerobic “without air”) glycolysis — an abnormal process whereby glucose is used as a primary fuel by cancer cells and which generates large amounts of lactic acid as a byproduct. (Let me know if I can include URL’s in this format, and I will link you to info sites, though you surely know all this.)
Anyway, I notice that you’ve been guided by Rudolph Breuss, who (I think) theorizes that cancer feeds off of protein. I live with someone who has intractable epilepsy, and she’s on a ketogenic diet (which dramatically reduces seizures) and she must severely limit protein as well as carbs because proteins can also be easily converted to sugar in the body. Perhaps both Dr. Bruess and Dr. Warberg are correct.. but if Dr. Bruess did not allow for the strong possibility that the cancer also feeds off of dietary sugar, then the beets, carrots and other sugary juices may be working against Theresa.
You’ve probably already considered all this, just curious about the science behind your approach, because I may be needing to undertake a similar treatment before too long.
Prayers for you and for Theresa,
rhet

Hi Rhet,
Here is what I have seen. The bruess diet and be very effective. The amount of juice 1/2 liter daily is enough to boost the immune system and allow catabolsim. The cancer seem to be able to grow without any protien in very thin patient indicating the it is pulling its protein needs from the rest of the body. As cancer has more insulin receptors and creates capilleries for a greater blood supply it seems to have a mirror system for protein collection. Dry fasting and water fasting may be more effective with some cancers. But we are still in the testing and research mode. Sure any links you have send them along. We are gathering as much research as we can for publication with the case studies.
Cancer creating lactic acid…. yes that is very intersting.

Hi Tom!
I was in touch with Mr. Danny Meneses, co-founder of the Philippine Breast Cancer Network. Their website is http://www.pbcn.org
I believe that Mr. Meneses can work along with you. His Cell Number is 09209099212. ( His wife died of cancer, and since then this has become his advocacy).

Sorry, I just saw the update from yesterday. How sad and difficult for everyone.
Would you be willing, at some point, to write about what you think happened with the treatment, and what you might try differently next time? Is Theresa off the fast now?
Thanks, and prayers to Theresa and family,

I just can back from Theresa’s funeral. Her family home is a tin shack with sheet metal walls. They were building a concrete grave attached to the house. A pig had been slaughtered and was laid atop of a bamboo grill. Theresa was in the center of the living room in an open coffin.
I was told the road to Theresa’s village it was for expert drivers but I have a 4×4 so it was just an amazing journey over rice terraces and the edge of a mountain. We did a talk at the local church and were made welcome and were thankful for all our efforts. It was touching, and it felt like family. Sad but beautiful. I believe there is a heaven and I will see here there.
I am still working on the adjusted treatment and that will take time. We are building a greenhouse at the hospital but that will take some time. Sage, black radish cannabinods, Q 10, hemp seed oil and protien all have anti cancer properties so I continue to work at obtaining them.
I am retired here so I have lots of patience and time.

Went to two doctors for a second and third opinion re the lump on my breast. Had a series of test and am positive for breast cancer. Will continue my juice fasting as I believe that this will give me a better immune system. I know I will be able to fight and survive this.

Hi Gina,
We have had some amazing successes with juice fasting and cancer but the treatment is over 40 days with 1/2 liter of juices per day. I now recommend using juicing with standard cancer therapy as the risk is life and we have not seen consitant results with our present protocol. If this is the early stages you could do the fast and monitor the result in the tumor size. The problem we are seeing may be due to the mass size of the tumors in stage 3-4 cancers. Maybe larger tumors can create more blood flow.

Hi Tom,
Thank you for sharing these experiences (both positive and negative). My sympathies go out to Gina’s family and your staff that invested their hearts and expertise into treating her.
It is my understanding that fasting has limited success in treating cancer (Joel Fuhrman’s book on fasting therapy, Natural Hygiene Society’s information). It would seem that this would be a reasonable assumption if we take into consideration the role of the cell mitochondria in differentiation and apoptosis. The evidence that CoQ10 (a key energy factor in mitochondria) can, by itself, lead to tumor regression (Lockwood et al. Biochem Biophys Res Commun 1994) suggests that fasting may only work in individuals with adequate energy reserves. Dr. Alfred Plechner’s fascinating work in cancer (”Endocrine_immune mechanisms in animals and human health implications”) also points to the need for a balanced energy level to sustain thyroid/adrenal function in the battle to constrain the inflammatory fuels of tumors.
best regards and wishes for your excellent efforts,
Jeff

Hi Jeff,
We never had any Q10 as we are in the mountains and there is no money in the program. Many work for $1.20 a day in the fields. So a bottle of vitamins is a Corvette. It is on my wish list. The treatment juice amount is flexible but under 1/2 per day is the goal. Just enough to boost the immune system. Jeff, please consider volunteering here to do some research with us. Perfecting a cancer cure using fasting, supplements and herbs it going to take a lifetime and any help along the way would be great.

Hi Tom,
Just to update you, I finally had the results of my biopsy. I have invasive lobular carcinoma and metastatic carcinoma (lymph nodes). I will be going through a bone, liver and lung scan on the 16th to check if they too have been affected. If it is, then that makes my breast cancer on stage iv….
The tests could have been done earlier, but I requested enough time, as I intended to intensify my taking of juice fasting. Will this help> or would you have any other suggestions?
I will go through chemo after that so I would like to prepare my body to have better immune system.

Apparently there have been studies done about CLA in Cancer patients and there is remarkable evidence of it’s cancer fighting properties. It also states that it helps stabilize glucose levels of more than 2/3 of diabetic test patients.
I looked at the bottle and if it’s any help, the corporation that licenses the product is called the Cognis corporation. It’s licensed under US patents, which must mean there is a generic form available to purchase somewhere – or that it is at least available to be shipped in large quantities.

Hi Allayna,
Thanks for your info. For the people in the first world it is an excellent product. Our patients live on 1 to 5 dollars a day in tin shacks. And the hospital has no money in the program. But they my supply us if they new what we were doing. In about a month we will be contacting many companies to see if they would supply us for free.

My prayers go out as well, I have something I would like to say as someone who recently discovered fasting as a means to cleanse the body…
Cancer and Diabetes runs in my family, I was a victim as well.
I read the master cleanse, then did various researches on other
fasts. My body was healed almost immediately as I spend so much time in poor nutrition…
the lemons clean the body, and gives you a ton of nutrients the pepper sends blood where it needs to be…
He makes a point about cancer in the book….
one fast one do it, not even a long term fast, he said “periodic” fasts over a period of time, help ALL of his patients.
He doesn’t explain why though….
I think you just did…
This is why…
Sometime back I read a book called body for life. the book is fairly popular, but one of the things that made me think is the one day a week in which you can eat as much as you want and whatever you want.
He says its to trick your body into believing it is NOT starving so functions stay normal.
Perhaps that is why the fast should be halted, so the tumor doesn’t know to change? Fast Halt, fast Halt fast halt. not to mention Morphine WRECKED my immune system some time back. also, I added organic Aloe vera juice to my fast and immeditely felt better seeing as Aloe Vera gives a person’s immune system unlimited resources.
Just my thoughts. Again, my heart goes out.

Hey Tom Coghill. I know the reason why Theresa died. When you fast, first your body gets rid of all the toxins(any thing that’s foreign)in the body. You might disagree, but as far as the body is concerned, medicine is also recognized as a foreign substance in the body. When you continued to give Theresa the medicine, it contradicted the body’s detoxification process during fasting. If Theresa did a complete fast with no medication, first the body would have gotten rid of all the medication and other foreign substances in the body, then after that, it would have survived by eating all the non-essencial tissues in the body (cancer included). When you continued to give Theresa the medication, you prevented the body from going into the next stage of it’s healing process. I’m a dry-faster myself, but water fasting would have been a better method than juice-fasting for Theresa’s case…

Hi Kaih,
The chemotherapy was administered before she arrived and it failed to slow the growth. I do believe that dry fasting or water would have been a better choice but she was nothing but bones when she arrived and weak from the chemo and surgeries and in tremendous pain and on morphine.
I am doubting that cancer can be healed as it has to be killed as it is so much like a normal cell. Restricted juicing had one amazing success story here with prostrate cancer but cancer is insidious. It is easy to look back on a failure but at the time restricted juices seemed to be the best choice. We will be starting a new research team on May 22, so that may provide new info and new results. All research and discussion is welcome. We still have to see if dry fasting or water fasting can stop or slow angiogenesis. Prolonged lowered blood glucose levels clearly causes necrosis and tumor mass reduction. But there may be a trade off point. The cancer may die off until the cancer cells that are left have enough blood supply. Basically the cancer would become dormant ready to regrow with any blood sugars. That is the point that a reduced amount of chemo may hold the power to kill off the cancer.
